Welcome

A community behind the brick.

Globe Wharf is a residential conversion of a landmark riverside warehouse, owned and cared for by the people who live here.

Set on the south bank between Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf, the building is home to a mix of long-standing owners and tenants. This site is the practical centre of life here: a single, quiet place for the things residents, buyers and managing agents need most, from the building’s story to how to find us and the guides that keep everything running smoothly.

There are no accounts to create and nothing to log in to. Everything below is open, current, and maintained by the resident directors.

History

From rice mill to riverside home.

Globe Wharf was built in the early 1880s as a rice mill and warehouse, one of a chain of granaries and wharves that lined this stretch of the Pool of London. Barges drew up at the river frontage; sacks were hauled through the loading doors that still mark the facade today.

The yellow stock brick, the cast-iron window frames painted that unmistakable red, and the galleried internal courtyard are all original, protected as part of a conservation area that runs the length of Rotherhithe Street.

By the late twentieth century the river trade had moved on. Rather than demolish, the wharf was carefully converted to housing in the 1990s, keeping the warehouse character intact while turning storage floors into light-filled apartments.
